To Forgive Another is the Greatest Gift You Can Give Yourself

The evening began with a young Hispanic woman, three children under the age of 4 in tow, walking in an asking for help to find housing. Working as a team, the WuWu Women, guest speaker Brad Dohack, and Reverend Emile Gauvreau of the Center for Spiritual Living, were able to attend to the groups basic needs and provide much needed resources for this young, beautiful family.

Special guest Brad Dohack kicked off tonight’s meeting with a way for WuWu Women to make some extra income for their families while helping businesses grow through Internet marketing. After Brad Uplifted the group we circled up for a meditation which took us all on a journey to meet our inner child. Not the inner child that became famous in the 1980s, we delved deep into the heart of the child that has held all of our perceived hurts and resentments, then we set her free! The meditation was followed by an intense breakthrough forgiveness exercise and a class share involving the essential oil “Forgiveness” shared by Aromatherapy expert, Dr. Sandra Clark.

Weekly Uplift accountabili-buddies were joyfully chosen and lucky drawing winners: Amy, Marie, and Carolin won $50 to Jencks Photography. Special thanks to the Center for Spiritual Living, Brad Dohack, Dr. Sandra Clark, our amazing team of childcare providers, and Johanna who saved the day with her flawless Spanish!

Soon the house will be filled with the joyful sounds of laughter, and the occasional “He’s touching me!” We’ll probably rush around for a bit and desperately try to find that one lost shoe that someone “just has to wear today” and then we’ll fill our hearts and bodies with food and love in the company of our friends and family. I feel so blessed right now, and yet I am also called to remember another time: a moment in my personal-evolutionary timeline that felt more Orwell than Rockwell.

15-years ago I was literally broke, living off of a box of saltines because it was the only thing left in my cupboard. A doctor had just told me I would never have kids, and my electric was about to be shut off. Injured and unemployed in an area with few employment opportunities, I felt hopeless and oppressed by insurmountable odds. Adding insult to injury, it was the dead of winter in a truly frozen land called Oswego and my family was 8-hours away, unable to help.

I remember crying all alone on a thrift store couch in my one-bedroom apartment. I can almost feel the tears staining my cheeks and my heart shattering into millions of shards. I can almost feel the pit of despair attempting to suck me into it’s murky depths at its sirens sing of the promise of calm if I just crawl back into bed, pull the covers over my head and give up. It would have been so easy to do that, to let fear and misery win.

I chose to dream instead. I pictured my amazing family, which is reminiscent of the clan from “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” and painted into the picture my 2.2 children, my soul mate, and a career helping people so that they could find a path to their dreams. I stoked the fires of my spirit and mind, cultivated the hope in my heart and let my imagination soar until I was off of that couch and able to make an action plan, a road map that has led to where I am today.

The road wasn’t always smooth. There have been times when I felt like I was walking through Jell-O, others when I was running at full speed. There plenty of stumbles and falls along the way too. But if I close my eyes I can see the hands of those who have helped me up, pushed me when I would have stopped, walked with me when I needed a companion and taught me when I needed to learn a lesson. They are angels, teachers, ministers, family, friends, ex-lovers, and even strangers. Some are still in my life; others appeared only for an instant sharing a smile, a meaningful essay, or casserole when I was hungry.

Glancing around my clean, warm home in sunny Southwest Florida, the second hand couch and wintry night is so far away for me. But, I know that someone, somewhere, is experiencing that reality—or something like it—right now. And so I ask that if you have even a spark of gratitude in your heart that you feed it, cultivate it, let it glow brightly until you feel as though you will set the world to flame with blessing and grace. Then, release that energy to the world with a prayer that all will know hope, love, joy and gratitude.

At this morning’s WuWu Women Whole Life Network meeting, WuWu Founder Amy Emme and Co-facilitators Katie Romano and Angie Cloutier announced the winner of the Fit Camp Scholarship at Self-Time Fitness and gift certificate to Mathew Thomas Salon. Congratulations Amanda and Johanna! Congrats also to 50/50 winner Marie who cleaned up with cash after clearing out unwanted thoughts and beliefs! Marie also won a bottle of lavender essential oil! WUWU!

Since WuWu Women is about serving Women, the Whole Life Network attendees were asked which times would be most convenient for meetings. The result is that starting December 2, 2009 WuWu is moving to 6-7:30 pm at the Center for Spiritual Living in Cape Coral every first and third Wednesday.

WuWu Women will launch it’s “Get up and Go” networking event Wednesday, November 11th, 2009 at 7am at the Center for Spiritual Living. The group is designed to provide personal development tools and Uplifting support to women of all ages.

WuWu Woman Brandy Jimenez Helps Women Get Fit!

There is something about the last 24-hours before an event. Each moment, each step during the last few ticks of the clock is like a living affirmation that a dream is about to be made real.

In this particular case, each step that a WuWu staff member makes affirms our belief in your ability to live your wildest dream. Seriously, you we are thinking of you, your friends, your first grade teacher—everyone who dared to get out of bed this morning and we are hoping for you all right now! In fact, as I write this blog there is a flurry of activity around me. Passionate WuWu volunteers are in high-gear giving their all so that your experience is powerful, memorable, and meaningful.

What are you doing to prepare yourself? Is your calendar marked? Is there hope in your heart? A knowing that there is more to life? A spark of belief that you are capable of so much more?

As we all traverse these last few hours to “Lift Off” know that you are in our every thought, word and deed. Know that the friends you haven’t met yet are holding you in their hearts waiting for the right moment to Uplift you Unconditionally.
